Time to go
So , its time to have another crack at leaving. Bryony got on a plane in Tennerife this evening and all that we need is a text to say she is home safely and then we will have nothing to keep us here. Except that its pitch black and we are tucked into a tiny rock strewn harbour on the SE corner of Tennerife – so our current plan is to head South at first light.
Any anxieties about a 3000 mile passage have been put into context by having shared a harbour with 100 rowers for the last fortnight. These guys ( and girls) set off at midday today , and face a challenge that is orders of magnitude greater than ours. Many of them look terribly young and frankly I will worry about them all the way across. Check them out on the website www.atlanticchallenge09.com or some such , and let us know how they are fairing.
At least the weather is looking good for us all , and I fervently hope it will continue to be so for the 80 odd days some of them will take.
Tomorrows log will read “Tennerife to ……..” so thatwe dont prejudge where we will end up. Wish us luck.
No luck required; just do what you do best.
You’ve done the preparation, so just go for it. Look forward to seeing you in the Windies.

Have a fantastic trip, very envious wish we were doing it again! Don’t forget to take photos of the crossing. Expecting lots of snow in the UK so think of us in subzero temperatures.
